Ha, I was there a few weeks ago! Yeah driving along Sir Francis Drake took forever! Hard to believe that's the best way to get there...
Glad you guys had fun and saw some whales!

Thanks for the kind words Liz! I also like to think of Apache as a great ambassador also. He does so many different things and never complains - actually enjoys the variety. Is there any better way to showcase their versatility than that?!

HOLY COW! You make me feel like a real lazy bones. Is there anything you havne't done with Apache! You two are great ambasadors for the gaited horse! I've also competed in lower level dressage with my barefoot TWH and attended local gaited horse shows. I have had the same expierience with the local gaited shows in Florida. Some judges have no clue what a true 4 beat flat walk or running walk looks like. They're so used to seeing a stepping pace or amble, they don't recognize correct movement when it's staring them in the face! Keep up the good work!

These are amazing pictures! I am sure they don't capture what you exactly saw in person. Pictures can do that. That is how I feel when I go riding up here at Pardee Res. I can go all day in the middle of nowhere. Just the way I like to spend my day :)

Thanks for the kind words Claudia. I know exactly what you mean. Showing without a barn crew or trainer is hard enough as it is, and then showing against trainers makes it even tougher. What a satisfying feeling!

Cool, Portal sounds like fun! I just ordered my copy of the Half Life 2 Orange Box, and I'm mostly looking forward to playing Portal and TF2. You can currently get the whole box for $39 at Amazon (at least for the PC version). :)

As a note, I think you can buy *just* Portal via Valve's Steam service for $19.99 (as Leigh said, *well* worth it) if you don't feel like paying $60 to get Portal, Half Life 2, Episodes 1 & 2 and Team Fortress 2.

You may also check out Yahtzee's spoiler-free review of it here (hint: he liked it).

Hi - was doing some surfing and came across your blog. You are a great writer! Isn't it such a satisfying feeling when you as an owner/trainer/amatuer go into the ring, fighting your horse, faced with riding with the "big guys" (trainers) and you end the class with the Blue!! Even the 2nd is wonderful against that type of competition! I too have no trainer, no barn crew (except my dear husband that puts up with me showing), so I can totally understand!
